Among many people who want canvas photo prints, photographs, paintings, and posters, there is a perception that to get the perfect result, all you need is a professional printer and material called “canvas.” Unfortunately, everything is not as simple as we would like. The quality and safety of interior printing is influenced by many more different factors, which many may not know or even guess. Read, now you will learn all the most interesting and useful!
Misconception Number 1 – Any Print on Canvas can be Hung in the Interior.
Canvas photo prints with solvent inks are highly harmful. Solvent inks contain chemically reactive solvents that are harmful to humans, which can cause allergies if evaporated. The toxicity of the solvent is almost identical to ethyl alcohol. The difference is that the solvent has a much sharper nasty smell and tends to accumulate in the body. Large format solvent printing can be placed only on the street. Eco-solvent printing smells much less, but is also harmful to health and can be placed in areas where a person is for a short time. For example, in the hallways and shops.
Interior canvases can be printed with latex, water or pigment inks. All these inks are water-based but differ in composition and degree of environmental safety.
Misconception Number 2 – All Canvases are the same.
And no canvas for printing is made in different types and quality. All canvases for printing are divided into 2 types: natural and synthetic. Synthetic vinyl is inferior to the natural canvas according to the wealth and nobility of appearance. It looks more like an oilcloth than a fabric. Synthetic canvas is durable, not afraid of moisture and temperature changes so that it can be the basis for outdoor advertising.
Natural canvas for printing has a cotton or linen base, on which a thin layer of special primer is applied on the front side. The seamy side looks like cotton or linen fabric.
Misconception Number 3 – All Printers Print the Same.
Of course, many companies can print on canvas. However, not all of them have high-quality prints with accurate color and high definition. I must say, the print quality of an inkjet printer depends on a lot of factors.
Perhaps one of the most important thing is the quality of ink. Good ink is safe for health. They have sufficient fluidity and at the same time a strong adhesion to the canvas, so as not to spread very much on the surface and to ensure the creation of just such a color “spot” (it is, of course, extremely small) as planned. The use of low-quality ink leads to blurring and blurring of the image. Moreover, the ink is directly determined by the color rendition. Therefore, the image can be quite bright and juicy only when using high-quality ink. Substandard, fake brand ink used by some companies to reduce the cost of printing.
Misconception Number 4 – Print does not need to Varnish.
We have a different opinion. You want to print your favorite photos on canvas so that they look like real pictures? And all the painting, painted on canvas, varnished. Therefore, to enhance the effect of “man-made”, we cover prints with varnish by hand. Varnishing is the most important condition for the preservation of the printed image. The varnish protects the custom canvas prints from damage to the paint layer and creates a reliable dust barrier. It is easy and safe to remove the lacquer film itself from dust than the paint layer. Lacquer gives colors a deep sound and depth; therefore the impression of a photo or a picture printed on canvas is greatly enhanced.
